Erin Vazquez was born in Detroit, MI and raised in Dallas, TX. Surrounded by a family of musicians, she began to study music early, beginning with the piano at age five, the oboe at age 11, and adding in some amateur clarinet playing at age 14. She attended the Dallas Arts Magnet, Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, where she met her now husband, saxophonist Eric Vazquez. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Wheaton College Conservatory of Music in 2021 with Bachelor's Degrees in Oboe Performance and Music History and Literature, where she studied with oboist Deborah Stevenson and musicologist Dr. Jonathan Saylor.

Erin has been performing professionally since 2013 and teaching private lessons since 2019, focusing primarily on the oboe and English horn, but occasionally teaching lessons on piano and clarinet. She has performed regularly with groups such as the Heritage Philharmonic Orchestra and the Northland Symphony Orchestra, and has subbed for many other groups, such as the University of Missouri Wind Ensemble and, most recently, the Naptown Symphony Orchestra. She also performs often in local churches.

Erin is a versatile performer, with experience as a soloist, principal oboist, second oboist and English hornist, and in a chamber ensemble setting. As a soloist, she has given several solo recitals and, in 2019, she won the Winds, Brass, and Percussion category of the Wheaton College Concerto Competition and performed the Vaughan Williams Oboe Concerto with the Wheaton College Symphony Orchestra. She has also been a featured soloist several times with various groups. With the Wheaton College Symphony Orchestra she was the featured soloist for pieces like The Swan of Tuonela by Jean Sibelius and Gabriel's Oboe by Ennio Morricone. With the Heritage Philharmonic Orchestra, she was the featured soloist on In the Steppes of Central Asia by Alexander Borodin.

Aside from her experience as a performer and private lesson instructor, she also has a strong passion for music history and music theory. Her senior thesis at Wheaton College was a 60-page essay entitled The Historical Development and Contemporary Significance of the Wind Band, a topic she dreams of expanding into a dissertation were she ever to pursue a PhD in Musicology. Her essay Eden in Sound: Eternity in Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time, was selected to be published in the spring 2021 issue of Wheaton College’s academic journal, The Pub (2021).

In her personal life, she is married to Eric Vazquez, a professional saxophonist in the U.S. Naval Academy Band. Although they do not yet have children, they have a pet rabbit named Tessa. In her free time, Erin loves to read, write, and play video games.
